1. Give us a quick rundown on all things Lolli…
I’m a 26 year old social worker and have just got married to the most amazing man on this planet (I might be biased but he’s pretty darn spesh). I am also a yoga teacher in training. Yoga has really helped me on my spiritual journey.
I began my “fitness journey” in August 2014, not long after my darling boyfie of 5 months proposed . It wasn’t that I started this for him or the wedding, it was that for once I finally felt happy in my skin and I wanted to lose the weight. So I started! I had always been thin my whole life and never needed to diet or workout, then I had to…
The reality of that hit me like a tonne of bricks. It’s hard work! I began with a personal trainer twice a week and some silly diets, tried gyms, ran with my dog; however, I found that this just wasn’t cutting it for me. And then my sister (who lives in Queensland) came down for a visit and visited the Aleenta Barre studio in the city and loved it. Soon after I got an email saying Aleenta Barre was opening at Mawson Lakes … Many questions plagued me - what is barre? How do you barre?.. .and so my love affair with Barre began…
I think Barre, yoga, hiking and running has become my life. I’ve been a vegan for over two years and I have changed my life and food habits for the better. I no longer want to go out on a Friday night and drink and eat myself silly with friends, I want to see my friends at barre and workout!
2. What brought you to Aleenta Barre?
It was the first F.I.T class on a Tuesday night, I remember it vividly because my gosh did I hurt. It was the first week of the Mawson Lakes studio opening… it took one class... and I was hooked. It killed me. I was sore for days. The lovely Bec was so warm and inviting. I wanted to try something new and I had heard that all the Victoria Secrets models did it. I wanted to look like them!
For a solid 8 months or more I was attending 5-9 classes a week at a minimum! I would do one class in the morning and one or two in the afternoon. It became my obsession and the place that I couldn’t wait to get to! My hubby is a chef so I dedicated all my alone time to barre. It was my new love. It is still my love. However, with travel commitments for work I have cut back some of my classes .
