Kristen has been coming to Aleenta since we opened and has had amazing results. Read on to hear her story here.
Tell us a bit about yourself…
I am 28 years old and a Personal Assistant. I have a dance background starting when I was 2 and only stopped when I was about 23. Ever since I have been doing pilates and a mix of various different bits and pieces to stay active and help with back pain from sitting at a desk all day. I work in the city and live just outside of the city towards the beach.
How did you hear about Aleenta Barre?
I knew of Barre prior to attending a class at Aleenta, however had never tried it. A friend forwarded me the email for the free classes when the studio opened so I came along and after 3 weeks (and realising my jeans were way too tight for winter), I needed to change up my routine and decided to go back to Aleenta and have been coming back ever since.
What do you love about Aleenta Barre?
The studio and staff have such a great vibe about them. It makes me want to go there. I love that every class has similar principals and techniques but what makes it fun is the interaction with the instructors and how each instructor is completely different, which makes for a different experience every time.
What results have you noticed since attending Aleenta Barre classes?
Overall I feel happier, healthier and lighter. I never thought I would lose weight because I didn’t really have any to lose; however, I managed to drop 3kgs in just 2 weeks. Fortunately I measured myself prior to starting at Aleenta Barre in March which is a good way to really see the results of how regular classes can change your body. I lost 5cms from my waist, 4cms from my hips, and between 2–3 cms from my each of my thighs and around my knees! My entire physique has altered. The biggest thing for me is the improvement in my strength and flexibility. I can now do handstand push-ups which is really exciting as I have wanted to do them for years and I am almost down in the splits which I haven’t been able to do for almost 10 years!
What other exercise you do?
I do Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) socially, and SUP pilates at least once a week. I also occasionally go to a gym and do body mobility and body weight strength classes; however, since attending classes at Aleenta I haven’t been back. But previously would go to the gym 1 or 2 times a week for 1 hour sessions. In summer I usually go running down the beach, but it’s too cold now!
Why it is important to you to keep fit?
For my own sanity. Keeps me motivated and helps relieve stress.
